Devshayani Ekadashi, also known as Ashadhi Ekadashi or Hari Shayani Ekadashi, is one of the most significant Ekadashis in Sanatan Dharma. According to Hindu scriptures, on Devshayani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu reclines on Sheshnag in the Kshira Sagar (cosmic ocean) and enters divine sleep for four months. These months are known as Chaturmas, a period considered highly auspicious for spiritual practices, charity, and devotion.
It is believed that Lord Vishnu awakens on Devutthana Ekadashi in the Kartik month, marking the end of Chaturmas.
